Hot Yoga Instructors

Deby Curcio Bio -

Deb CurcioIn 1997 my life came to a sudden halt, but it was also the year I was introduced to yoga.

My body began to turn against me. I had strange reactions to common everyday items and foods that I had not ever experienced before. My immune system had crashed. After many doctors being perplexed I finally found some relief from an environmental doctor in Florida. Dr. Robbins had begun to specialize in helping people with severe allergies and chemical sensitivities. I had been diagnosed with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Leaky Gut Syndrome and Panic Attacks. It was Dr. Robbins who suggested I start taking yoga classes to help deal with the stress of what was going on and also to help the healing process of the body. To him I am very grateful!

I found yoga to relieve stress and start the healing process in and outside my body. With pranayama (breath work) I was able to control panic attacks and the over-reaction my nervous system was having due to the allergic reactions. Through home practice and studio practice I saw and felt many changes happening to my body physically as well as spiritually.

I decided that I needed to share what great things yoga had done for me so I did my first Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in January 2005 with the Living Yoga Program in Texas.

Then I discovered Hot Yoga!

My body still needed help to rid itself of toxins that had accumulated and what my body now had an insufficient capability of processes out on a daily basis. Knowing the benefits of Sauna Therapy, Hot Yoga seemed like a great combination of the two. As I practiced and got stronger with Hot Yoga I again felt I had to share this style of Hatha Yoga and its benefits.

I took Level I Hot Yoga Teacher Training with Jimmy Barkan in Florida in April 2005. Then I was able to take Hot Yoga/Vinyasa Level II-III training with Jimmy in October 2008.

Through the years I have attended many yoga trainings and intensives with teachers such as Shiva Rea, Sean Corne, Desiree Runbaugh and Lillah Schwartz. I have taken classes in many forms of yoga such as The Barkan Method, Bikram, Restorative, Ashtanga, Yin, Intregral, Iyengar, Kundalini, Power Yoga, Anusara, Hatha, Dynamic Flow, Tai Chi and Qigong classes to name a few.

Hot Yoga has a special place for me with the detox and strengthening benefits it has to offer. I will always strive to develop my practice and guide others down a wonderful path of challenge, peacefulness and discovery!
